Putting a Stop to Energy Waste

It’s our vision at WattStopper, where we make energy-efficient lighting controls for commercial and residential use. 

Founded in 1984 by brothers Jerry and Steve Mix in Santa Clara, California, WattStopper reflects their convictions about the importance of providing energy-efficient, convenient, and accessible controls for the built environment.  

In demonstrating these beliefs, WattStopper’s founding team first introduced a new, innovative occupancy sensor product line. This included ultrasonic and passive infrared sensors as well as the industry-first, patented Dual Technology occupancy sensor. 

In the years that followed, WattStopper expanded its occupancy sensor product offering, and developed additional solutions using other control technologies. These included the industry-first Isole plug load control power strip and personal sensor, the first dual loop photosensor, and our most recent Digital Lighting Management line of products.

In 1996 WattStopper joined the Legrand Group.  A leading provider of products and systems for electrical installations and information networks wherever people live and work, Legrand delivers an unequaled depth and breadth of innovative solutions.  Legrand North America and Legrand Canada companies include: Cablofil, Electrorack, Middle Atlantic, On Q, Ortronics, Pass & Seymour, Vantage and Wiremold.
